1. Before applying makeup, start with a clean face.
2. To choose the correct shades for your skin tone and hair color, simply look in a mirror and hold a piece of gold and a piece of silver in front of your face. The right metal will bring a healthy glow to your skin, whereas the wrong one will make it look grey. If gold suits your skin, then it's "warm" toned. If silver suits you, it's "cool " toned. A further clue is how well you tan in the sun-cool skintones tend to color less easily.
3. Types of Foundation:
Tinted Moisturizers
Ideal for young or clear skin, great in the summer, sheer coverage.
Liquid Foundations
These are the most popular and versatile of all foundation types, natural looking coverage, suit all but dry skin.
Cream Foundations
Thick, rich and moisturizing, making them ideal for dry skin. Blend well into your skin with a damp cosmetic sponge.
Mousse Foundations
Moisturizing, ideal for dry skin.
Compact Foundation
All in one formulations, contain powder, give a lighter finish. Great for all but dry skin types.
Stick Foundations
Heavy texture, best for badly blemished or scarred skin.
4. When choosing a concealor, look for the color nearest to your skin tone rather than a lighter one.
5. Eyeshadow As Eyeliner
I use eyeshadow to outline the eyes, and it looks great because it gives a very soft smoky effect.
6. Turn lipstick into lip gloss with a coat of lip balm after applying color.
7. When you're out of toothpaste, brush with plain baking soda-it'll make them extra white, too.
8. One length hair with no layers is the easiest and cheapest hairstyle to maintain. Keeps you from visiting the salon as often.
9. Rub a dab of petroleum jelly around the neck of a new nail polish bottle, and it should be easy to open the entire life of the product.
10. Use an old clean toothbrush to slick unruly eyebrows into shape.
